Fiji has so many rich people who can afford to pay fines by parking in the no parking zone. Or maybe the signs are just fake displays and offenders are not fined. Well, these are just two sides of a coin tossed by the Government.

Rugby feast Manu Naborisi, Kadavu

As-salāmu ʿalaykum (Peace be Upon You) and greetings to all my Islamic brothers and sisters In Fiji  and around the globe. Friends have been updating me on the current affairs that has been the talk of the sporting bodies in the region. Let me remind us of the issue involving the champion team of the annual Super Rugby competition ‘The Canterbury Crusaders’ which I’m a die hard fan of.

According to my brothers a section of the religious community are not one with the name “Crusaders” because it’s an insult to them. We just sharing our disappointment in regards to the matter because the majority of sports loving population in Fiji are die hard Aussie and NZ fans when it comes to Test matches or championship rugby. So when it is Super 15 season we are either Black and Red or the Brumbies or Waratahs. Have been since the days of Merts, Gibson, Marshall, Mauger and Vunibaka to name a few so I am pleading to the religious community as a whole not to push for a change in name of Crusaders because it matched the name Canterbury over the years. That is the past, let’s have a positive mindset and focus on the future which is very short. Let’s focus on the bigger fish in trying to bring back the Pacific Islanders team to be part of world rugby or even a combined team of Pacific Islanders to be part of the Super 15. They will be an impact on any day. So my humble plea to those who want a name change is to remember that sports knows no boundaries and is a great leveler. And that is why fans are looking forward to the rugby feast on June 1st between the Mighty Crusaders and the Chiefs at Laucala Oval. Iam so eager to watch this fixture and cheer for my fellow South (Kadavu) islander Sevu Reece and the boys from Canterbury.

Naboro Roadside Dump Tukai Lagonilakeba, Namaka, Nadi

Road users have been for a long time subjected to this eyesore and the illegal dumping of old used vehicles on the roadside should one drive past Kalokolevu Village just before the hilltop to Naboro on your left towards Navua.

They are road hazards and it is an illegal act by this irresponsible motor mechanic, but what is most intriguing is the inability of LTA and FRA to take this man to task from the past many years.

Government ministers drive past this stretch of road everyday but none seems to do anything about it and I would like to ask the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Minister for Environment and the Minister for Health to please take the necessary steps to clear that particular area.

Nausori Market Parking Ashwini Basant, Nausori

Fiji has so many rich people who can afford to pay fines by parking in the no parking zone. Or maybe the signs are just fake displays and offenders are not fined. Well, these are just two sides of a coin tossed by the Government.

Brilliant idea for the Nausori Town Council, get concrete parking dividers built and new parking meters installed in the Nausori Market no parking area – Good Money. Grab this opportunity.

People are parking there anyway free of charge.
