The Bulldogs were also able to capitalize on Bear turn overs to pick up a win in Geraldine’s first Class 3A Region 7 game. With the win, Geraldine improved to 2-1 on the season and the bears fell to 0-3 with the loss. However, Plainview did put some points on the board and avoided a third straight shutout.

Geraldine took the lead midway through the first quarter when Kyle Thackerson broke free on around the right side of the line and raced 62-yards to the end zone. Jose Garcia added the point after to give the Bulldogs a 7-0 lead with 5:47 left in the first quarter.

Graham took the ball 27-yards to the end zone on the Bulldogs first play from scrimmage. After the Garcia PAT, Geraldine took a 14-0 lead with 6.3 seconds left in the first quarter.

With less than five minutes in the second quarter, Thackerson intercepted a pass and set the Bulldogs up at the Plainview 35-yard line. But, the Bears made a defensive stand and forced Geraldine to attempt to convert a fourth-and-13. Plainview’s Zeb Ferguson broke up the Bulldog pass at the 10-yard line and the Bears took over on downs.

After the kickoff, Brandon East carried the ball 42 yards to the Plainview 17. Three plays later, Andrew Hall carried the ball into the end zone on second and goal from inside the 1-yard line. Garcia’s PAT made the score 21-7 with 17.7 seconds left in the half.

After the half, it was all Geraldine. Thackerson scored his second touchdown on a 73-yard reception from Hall just 45 seconds into the third quarter. Hall scored again on a 2-yard run at 6:20 in the third. Garcia was good on both extra points. Thackerson set up Geraldine’s third score of the half with a 68-yard punt return. Graham scored on a 2-yard run and the Bulldogs were successful on a two-point conversion to put the Bulldogs up 43-7. Geraldine also tallied a safety.

Geraldine’s final points came after Plainview fumbled a punt. Anthony Baldwin carried the ball into the end zone from the 30-yard line and Garcia added the point after to stretch the lead to 52-7.

Plainview got a late touchdown when Davis scored on a 23-yard run with two minutes left in the game. Mejia’s extra point was good to reach the 52-14 final.
