VR System Guides First Responders

VR System Guides First RespondersSep-08-18 A novel combination of drones and augmented reality could offer an intuitive way for remote doctors to assist and guide first responders.

Developed by a team from Purdue University, the system would make use of several technologies, including a camera at the scene—either body-worn or on a drone—that would transmit a live video feed to a remote physician. Using that information, the physician can access a touchscreen to indicate body parts or procedures. That information would then be transmitted back to the scene, to a first responder wearing a VR headset, guiding the less experienced first individual through unfamiliar procedures.
